Volunteer Contacts in the Churches collect good, unwanted basic household goods and bed linen, towels etc from their congregations and bring them to the Unit. They promote Starter Packs Dundee and stimulate their concregations and friends to donate goods, and money to buy those essential items which are not normally donated eg kettles, through Coffee Mornings, Concerts etc.
Starter Packs Dundee was initiated by Scottish Churches Housing Action in June 2000. An interdenominational steering group representing the churches and organisations helping the homeless was set up and Starter Packs Dundee was launched on 23rd January 2001.
Starter Packs Dundee has a Working Partnership Agreement with The Furniture Project Dundee whereby they share a referral system and starter packs are delivered along with furniture from The Furniture Project Dundee.
